摘要： An optoelectric module adapted to cooperate with a multi-fiber array by displacing a plurality of OEDs from the fiber array at least along the z,y-axes or a combination thereof while maintaining their alignment along either the x-axis of the fiber array, the module comprising: (a) a connector interface adapted to interconnect with a multi-fiber assembly having an x,y array of fibers; (b) a plurality of OEDs for converting between optical and electrical signals; and (c) optical paths wherein each optical path has a first end adapted for optically coupling with a corresponding fiber in an x,y array of fibers and a second end for optically coupling with a corresponding OED, wherein the distance between the second ends of at least two optical paths is greater than the distance between their corresponding first ends and wherein the distance across the second ends along the x-axis is no greater than the distance across the first ends along the x-axis.

摘要： An electrical connector for electrically connecting a source wire and a tap wire. The invention relates to an electrical connector including a non-electrically conductive outer member, a non-electrically conductive inner member, and an electrically conductive insert that provides an electrical connection path between the wires. The outer member has a first inner recess that houses the tap wire and an opposing second inner recess that houses the source wire. The electrically conductive member is inserted between the tap wire and the source wire whereby the electrically conductive member provides an electrical connection between the source wire and the tap wire. The inner member is inserted or wedged within the outer member between portions of the electrically conductive insert contacting the tap wire and the source wire. The invention also provides embodiment for electrically connecting the source and tap wires which comprise insulated and uninsulated conductors.

摘要： The present invention relates to a millimeter-wave communication system for one-way and/or two-way video, voice and data services that leverages cell-site diversity, subscriber-unit adaptability and a reflection dominated propagation model. To this end, a variety of omni-directional and directional antenna plans, cell-site structures and adaptive reception/transmission plans are envisioned in the present invention. Cell-site diversity is employed and permits shadowed subscriber units to be serviced from the best choice of the surrounding cell-sites based upon millimeter-wave propagation efficiency and not geometric convenience. Cell-site diversity is used to mitigate the ill-effects of environmental and atmospheric factors. Finally, the present plan reduces the reliance on repeaters by using statistically optimal conditions for cell-site selection with reflection based models rather than line-of-sight models, as relied upon in the prior art.

摘要： The present invention is drawn to an InxGa1-xP etch-stop layer for improving the uniformity of devices across an epitaxial wafer incorporating a high-low-high MESFET structure. The range of permissable values of x will vary as a function of the thickness of the etch-stop layer. To this end, preferably x is on the order of 0.5 in order to maintain lattice match with the GaAs substrate. Also, a novel process for selective recess etching of GaAs field-effect transistors is disclosed. The present invention envisions the use of a relatively thin (10-30 Angstrom) layer of the InxGa1-xP material to effect the selective recess etching of the material to a point where a relatively uniform thickness of n material remaining above the channel layer is realized.
