    • A magneto-optical storage apparatus and a reproducing method are provided. The magneto-optical storage apparatus is capable of using a magneto-optical storage medium provided with recording layer and reproducing layer. In the magneto-optical storage medium, information in the recording layer is transferred to the reproducing layer through irradiation of light at a given intensity for reproduction and through application of a reproductive magnetic field. The information contained in a given area thereof is enabled to be reproduced. The apparatus includes: an optical head irradiating light to the given area at least at a given intensity for reproduction; a permanent magnet applying at least the reproductive magnetic field to the given area; and a control unit controlling the optical head and the permanent magnet to reproduce the information, calculating a reproductive error rate associated with the reproduction and altering the strength of the reproductive magnetic field based on the reproductive error rate.

    • A calibration processing unit is provided, a reproducing operation of an optical storage medium by a reproducing unit is executed while changing a reproducing magnetic field and a reproducing laser power, a reproducible state is measured, and a set of best values of the reproducing magnetic field and the reproducing laser power which are used in the reproducing unit are determined on the basis of the measurement result. The calibration processing unit increases the reproducing magnetic field in a state where the reproducing laser power is fixed. When the reproducible state is not obtained, the measurement of the reproducible state due to the increase in reproducing magnetic field is repeated while increasing the reproducing laser power step by step. The reproducible state can be also measured while alternately increasing the reproducing laser power and the reproducing magnetic field.

    • A hair iron is provided which includes a hair curling body having an outer peripheral surface on which hairs are wound, a clip for holding the hairs between the inner surface of the clip and the outer peripheral surface of the hair curling body and a heater for heating the hair curling body. The clip is made of low heat conductive materials. A plurality of rib-shaped guards, which extend in a circumferential direction of the hair curling body, are provided at least on an area of the outer peripheral surface of the hair curling body other than the area facing the clip. The guards are made of low heat conductive materials. The guards are disposed at certain spaced intervals in an axial direction of the hair curling body. The guards are connected by connecting rods which are buried in the hair curling body such that upper surfaces of the guards are positioned so as to be at the same level as or below the outer peripheral surface of the hair curling body so that the connecting rods never cause hairs to be displaced from the outer peripheral surface of the hair curling body and prevent hairs from clinging to the rods.
