A thermoplastic outer core layer is formed about the shell layer. An optional inner cover layer is formed about the outer core layer, the inner cover layer including an ionomeric material. An outer cover layer is formed over the core or optional inner cover layer, the outer cover layer including a polyurea or a polyurethane and having a second hardness less than that of the optional inner cover layer. The hollow center has a diameter of about 0.15 to 1.1 inches.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball with a novel foam core structure having an improved resiliency as well as other advantageous characteristics, features and convenience.SOLUTION: The core structure of multi-layered golf ball core sub-assemblies and the resulting golf balls includes an inner core (center) 18 comprising a foam composition, preferably foamed polyurethane. An intermediate core layer 20 is preferably formed from a thermoplastic composition such as an ethylene acid copolymer ionomer resin; and an outer core layer 22 is preferably formed from a thermoset composition such as polybutadiene rubber. The core layers have different hardness and specific gravity levels. The core structure and resulting ball have relatively good resiliency.

The layers of the core structure may have different hardness gradients. The inner core (center) 14a comprises a metal material such as copper, steel, brass, tungsten, titanium, aluminum, and alloys thereof. The intermediate core layer 14b and the outer core layer 14c may be formed from a thermoset and/or thermoplastic composition.
