SOLUTION: Leakage current I which flows to the measured conductor line A is detected, the detected leakage current I is converted into a voltage, harmonic component is removed from the voltage after the conversion, the voltage V1 after the harmonic component is removed and the voltage V2 from the voltage line of the measured conductor line A is detected, and the harmonic component is removed from the detected voltage V2.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leakage current detection apparatus and method for detecting only a leakage current Igr caused by insulation resistance to ground. SOLUTION: A leakage current I 0 flowing through an electric line to be measured, of which electrical system is a three phase (R phase, S phase (grounded phase), T phase), three wire system, is detected. A voltage V generated between non-grounded phases (R phase-T phase) of the electric line to be measured is detected. A phase difference is detected from the leakage current I 0 and voltage V. A power supply frequency generated in the electric line to be measured is calculated based on the voltage V. The phase angle θ of the leakage current flowing through the electric line to be measured is calculated based on the phase difference and power supply frequency. A leakage current component Igr caused by the insulation resistance to ground included in the leakage current I 0 flowing through the electric line to be measured is calculated based on the leakage current I 0 and phase angle θ.
