    • PURPOSE: Provided are an epoxy-modified and unsaturated polyester resin having improved adhesiveness to iron plate and steel lining, and dimensional stability, and a method for preparing the same. CONSTITUTION: The epoxy-modified and unsaturated polyester resin composition is prepared by the steps of (i) reacting polybasic acid and polyol at 130-150 deg.C for 3-4 hours to form a unsaturated polyester, (ii) reacting the unsaturated polyester with epoxy resin to obtain a reactant, and (iii) dissolving the reactant into styrene monomer that is the first reactive monomer, and adjusting a viscosity of the resin to H-M by using the styrene monomer. The polybasic acid is a mixture of saturated dibasic acid anhydride, alpha, beta-unsaturated dibasic acid anhydride, and dicyclopentadiene.

    • PURPOSE: Provided is a method for preparing a mixed ether melamine resin excellent in stability, by forming methoxy methyl melamine, adding alcohols other than methanol to effect etherification under acidic condition, and adjusting the content of alkoxy group by adjusting pH, the reaction time and an amount of alcohol. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of (i) mixing melamine and paraformaldehyde and methanol, reacting the three materials under condition of pH 4.0-6.0 and 40-80 deg.C for 1-2 hours to form a transparent syrup form of partially methyl-etherified methylol melamine; (ii) reacting the remaining imino group(-NH-) with paraformaldehyde to form a methylol group; (iii) removing a methanol, water, unreacted paraformaldehyde under reduced pressure and removing solvents until solvents in system are removed to 80% or more within a maximum temperature of 110 deg.C; (iv) adding 8-30 mol of methanol with respect to 1 mol of melamine in product obtained in the step(iii), and reacting the methanol with melamine at temperature of 25-50 deg.C for 1-2 hours; (v) adding metal hydroxides to adjust a pH of reaction system to 8.5-11.5, and removing remaining solvents to 90% or more; (vi) adding 2-18 mol of alcohols other than methanol to product obtained in the step(v) and performing transetherification for 15 minutes to 3 hours to obtain a mixed alkoxy methyl melamine resin; and (vii) adding metal hydroxides to adjust a pH of reaction system to 8.0-10.0, and removing remaining solvents until soild of resin is 90% or more, and filtering metal salts formed by reaction of acidic catalyst and metal hydroxides.
