    • The present invention includes a traction member (14a-f) for golf shoes that has a base (56) with a central hole (62) there through and base projections (70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 122, 124, 126, 132) spaced about the hole. The shank (48) of a conventional cleat (12a) extends through the hole (62). The cleat (12a) can be non-metal or metal. Upon removably attaching the cleat (12a) to the outsole (10) by the shank, the cleat (12a) couples the traction member (14a-f) to the outsole forming a traction assembly. The geometry and number of projections (70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 122, 124, 126, 132) on the traction member (14a-f) can vary, thus vary the traction level exhibited by the member. The traction members (14a-f) can be provided to a golfer in sets with various levels of traction.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf shoe which realizes excellent flexibility, traction and balance for lawns to golfers.
      SOLUTION: This golf shoe comprises an outsole having forward and rear base sections that are connected and molded together with an arch support shank. The base sections are relatively soft and made from thermoplastic polyurethane having a maximum Shore A hardness of between 75 to 85. The shank is also made of thermoplastic polyurethane having a minimum hardness of at least 95 Shore A hardness. Each base section has a plurality of openings, wherein a plurality of corresponding relatively hard pods are molded, each pod of a size and configuration to fit within a corresponding opening and extend at least 6.3 mm from the bottom surfaces of the base sections. The shoe provides flexibility both across the metatarsal area and longitudinally at approximately the metatarsal area, thereby providing the golfer with improved flexibility, traction and balance.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf shoe outsole having a greater degree of flexibility and traction with turf, and therefore greater stability and balance to the user.SOLUTION: The golf shoe outsole comprises a generally flexible forward section 32 and a generally hard heel section, each section having a plurality of pod sections 31a-31h molded thereupon, each having at least one cleat attached thereto. Each pod section has an outer edge or perimeter that is flared quite significantly. The outsole has a 0.375 width to length ratio at the metatarsal area of the outsole and a pod vertical height of at least 9.1 mm and a flare angle of at least 52° from vertical on the outer edges of the pod sections. The pod sections have a minimum Shore A hardness of 95 and extend a minimum of 6.3 mm from the bottom surface of the outsole. The forward portion of the outsole is made from a relatively flexible thermoplastic polyurethane having a hardness between 75 to 85 Shore A.

SOLUTION: The present invention is directed to a three-component releasable mounted cleat assembly for interlocking into a receptacle of a golf shoe. A locking component is biasly inserted into an open receptacle in the shoe and has a geometric construction of downwardly extending tongues causing a requirement for a greater torque to remove the cleat than to install it. An outer component which is coupled to the locking component provides a plurality of rigid posts extending outward for firmly gripping turf. The posts have an exterior wall surface extending vertically from a base and are confined within the outer perimeter of the base. An inner component is secured within the outer component and has a plurality of resilient legs extending outward in a radial direction and originating from a central area of the component.
