摘要： In neutralizing an acid addition salt of .alpha.-APM in an aqueous medium, the .alpha.-APM concentration in the neutralized liquid is controlled to fall within the range of from 3 to 10 wt.% at the finish of neutralization. Then, the liquid is heated to 50 to 80.degree.C and neutralization is effected with stirring to the isoelectric point of .alpha.-APM; or after the neutralization, the neutralized liquid is heated. The neutralized liquid is thereafter cooled with or without stirring so that crystals of .alpha.-APM are precipitated.

摘要： A process for stably producing a dried product of alpha -L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester with controlled water content is developed. Wet crystals of alpha -L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester obtained by crystallization are subjected to a drying step to adjust the water content to not more than 5 % (wet basis), subsequently passing a gas adjusted to the temperature at 20 - 80 DEG C and relative humidity of 20 - 90 RH% in contact with the dried crystals to control their water content.

摘要： N-formyl-L-aspartic anhydride is prepared by a process which comprises reacting L-aspartic acid with acetic anhydride and formic acid in a molar amount of 1.05 times as large as that of aspartic acid or larger and centrifugation of the suspension of N-formyl-L-aspartic anhydride after said reaction in the presence or absence of an aromatic hydrocarbon while conducting the following steps: (1) starting to supply said suspension to a separation device under a back pressure of 100 mmHg or higher; (2) releasing said back pressure at the time when half or more of said suspension has already been supplied; and, (3) subsequently filtrating and/or conducting dehydration of the cake while if necessary washing the cake. This method provides anhydride crystals having a small amount of residual formic acid.

摘要： The present invention discloses a method to separate each component from a mixed solution of organic solvents obtained during the production of alpha -L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester, which is useful as a sweetener, namely, a mixed solution of acetic acid and toluene or a mixed solution of acetic acid, toluene and formic acid, recovering each component with a high recovery ratio with as small number of operations as possible. The method rationalizes the process and is highly valuable in practical use. When each component is separated and recovered from a mixed solution containing acetic acid and toluene as the main components, acetic acid and toluene are separated by azeotropic distillation using water as an azeotropic solvent, and when each component is separated and recovered from a mixed solution containing acetic acid, toluene and formic acid as the main components, (a) the mixed solution is distilled and formic acid is recovered from the top of the column and a mixed solution of acetic acid and toluene is recovered from the bottom of the column; and (b) the mixed solution obtained from the bottom is distilled by using water as anazeotropic solvent and toluene is recovered from the top of the column and acetic acid is recovered from the bottom of the column.
