The screw shaft 3 is 1.5 to 2.0 in the ratio Da/Di of a screw shaft outer diameter Da with respect to a screw shaft internal diameter Di, is 4 to 6 in a ratio Da/H of the screw shaft outer diameter Da with respect to a stroke H, and is between 1.3 to 2.5 in a ratio T/H of a pitch T with respect to the stroke H. The mixing and kneading machine equipped with such screw shaft 3 is operated at a rotating speed preferably exceeding 500 rpm and at a rotating speed exceeding 800 rpm in particular.
