    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective screen with an effective screen area substantially larger than the area determined by the outside dimension, which can be used to perform screening of a suction section of a sump area in a PWR type atomic power plant and a suction duct connected thereto.
      SOLUTION: The protective screen 1 for performing screening of the suction section 3 of a cooling system and the suction duct 5 connected thereto includes at least a screen wall element 2 having a suction side 12 and an outflow side 13. The screen wall element 2 is assembled from a plurality of rectangular module type cassette units 11. Each cassette unit includes suction pockets 17 opened toward the suction side 12, and the screen pockets are surrounded by outflow gaps 21 and 22 opened toward the outflow side 13.
