    • It is known to arrange denitration units at the cold end of a flue gas desulphurisation plant. In this case, the flue gas leaving the flue gas desulphurisation plant at approximately 50 DEG C must be heated to approximately 300 DEG C before entry into the denitration unit. This takes place in a combustion chamber. After leaving the combustion chamber, ammonia is added to the heated flue gas in a uniform distribution. In addition, the flue gas, upstream of the combustion chamber, can also be passed over a heat wheel, which takes up the heat from the hot flue gas stream downstream of the denitration unit and gives it off to the flue gas. The invention, in contrast, provides in each case a separate heat exchanger 2, 7 in the flue gas stream 1, 4, 6, 13 and downstream of the denitration unit 5, which heat exchangers are equipped with pipes which are incorporated into a thermal oil circulation 8. The pipes can be furnished with a peripheral-side catalyst layer composed of sintered-on metal oxides. An oil heater 10 is arranged in the circulation 8, which heater brings the thermal oil to a temperature which ensures that the ammonia-enriched flue gas 4 enters into the denitration unit 5 at the necessary high temperature. The ammonia is injected in the region of the heat exchanger 2.
