The trigger event occurs when: (a) CD's power source has a State-Of-Charge (“SOC”), capacity or voltage level that is not optimal for powering the accessory, (b) a voltage level of the accessory's power source is below a lowest voltage level at which the accessory can fully operate, or (c) a power source of the accessory is sufficiently charged/re-charged such that the accessory can once again operate in the SOM. In response to the trigger event, operations of CD and accessory are re-configured such that they operate in accordance with a second operational mode in which the accessory has a second functionality.

摘要： A system for determining the available current of a battery 106 in a portable electronic device such as a phone comprises: an auxiliary supply rail 123 coupled to the battery; a switchable load 118 between the battery and ground; a current sensor 116 to measure the current of the auxiliary supply rail; a voltage sensor 114 for the voltage of the battery; and a processor 102 connected to the switchable load and the sensors. The processor receives current and voltage measurements and, if the current is equal to or below a predetermined threshold, a plurality of unloaded voltage measurements are acquired. The load is then switched and a plurality of loaded voltages are measured. The impedance of the battery is calculated and a current budget is calculated based on a minimum operating voltage, a maximum allowable current draw and the impedance. An operating parameter of the portable device is adjusted based on the current budget.

The method includes calculating an impedance for the battery based on the unloaded and loaded voltages and an impedance for the switchable load. The method includes determining a current budget based on the impedance, a minimum operating voltage, and a maximum allowable current draw, and adjusting an operating parameter of the portable electronic device based on the current budget.
