The face in the image may be manipulated based on a parameterised face model 130, 140. The face may be in the background of the image and may be processed to anonymise or blur the face. The face may be in the foreground of the image and processed to bring the facial parameters of the face closer to reference facial parameters.

The first image and the modified second image may correspond to a sequence of video frames. The second image may be a copy of the first image modified by: adding a watermark, blurring out logos or faces, applying filters, or adding interactive objects. In another aspect of the invention a modified second image may be combined with image reconstruction information in order to reconstruct a first image; wherein the second image comprises a copy of the first image in which pixel(s) have been replaced.
