The light source apparatus outputs light formed of first light of a narrow wavelength band having a first wavelength where the optical intensity peaks and second light of a narrow wavelength band having a second wavelength where the optical intensity peaks, and the separation between the first and the second wavelength is set at a value greater than ¼ of one-cycle wavelength of a ripple among ripples contained in an optical spectrum of light that results from the light incident on the light modulator and is reflected off the light modulator, the ripple located in the wavelength regions of the first light and the second light, but smaller than ¾ of the one-cycle wavelength.
