摘要： Disclosed is a tool, such as pliers, with handle offsets and stop features. In an embodiment, the tool has a minimum of about 0.50 inches of clearance between handles in an area where a user's index finger contacts the handles. This is accomplished by offsetting upper and lower handles of the tool. For example, the lower handle may be offset about 1.10 inches from a pivot point between the handles. Similarly, an end of the upper handle may be offset by about 1.150 inches from the pivot point when jaws of the tool are adjusted to a closed position.

摘要： The socket 300 includes a working end 305 adapted to engage a work piece and an opposing drive end 310. The drive end has an outer diameter 320 and an aperture 315 adapted to matingly engage a lug of a tool. The aperture includes an indent 325 disposed on an inner surface of the aperture that is adapted to engage an outwardly biased ball disposed on the lug to detain the socket on the lug. The socket also includes a first rim 330 disposed proximate to the working end and a second rim 332 disposed proximate to the drive end. An annular groove 335 has a first groove end 337 proximate to the drive end. A second groove end 339 proximate to the working end is located approximately 8.13-16.0 mm (0.32-0.63 inches) from the drive end. A groove width that is disposed between the first and second rims is approximately 6.35-11.9 mm (0.25-0.47 inches) or alternatively 7.37-10.9 mm (0.29-0.43 inches). The annular groove may have a depth of approximately 0.508-1.27 mm (0.020-0.050 inches) or 0.508-0.762 mm (0.020-0.030 inches). The annular groove may have a depth of approximately 5.0%-10.5% of the drive end outer diameter.

摘要： A pawl mechanism, appropriate for use in a ratchet wrench that reduces the possibility of pawl spring over-compression and damage. The invention is characterised by the addition of at least one bumper (132) disposed near the internal surfaces of at least one of the pawls (106). The bumper acts to ensure there is space between the internal surfaces when the pawls contact one another to reduce the amount of compression applied to the pawl spring (108). A second bumper can optionally be included on the opposing pawl (104) which will contact the first bumper when the two pawls are brought together. A further optional feature is the insertion of the pawl spring into a cavity (134) on one or both of the pawls to further prevent additional compression of and damage to the pawl spring.
