    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of the coin storing device by determining the positions of respective racks in a coin storage part based on an output from a sensor for detecting the rotation of an impeller to be rotated by a coreless motor for moving the coin storage part and the contents of a memory for registering the moving distances of respective racks in relation to the rotational frequency of the motor. SOLUTION: Charged coins discriminated as real coins are rotated through a coin track part and individually stored in respective racks in the coin storage part 13 provided with plural racks. A moving part for moving the storage part 13 is constituted of the coreless motor M for moving the storage part 13 through a gear part 80 based on the rotational frequency of the motor M, the impeller 73 to be rotated by interlocking with the rotation of the motor M, and a photosensor 71 for detecting the rotation of the impeller 73 of an encoder E. The moving distance of respective racks in the storage part 13 are registered in the memory in relation to the rotational frequency of the motor M. A control circuit positions respective racks to the coin track part based on an output from the photosensor 71 and the contents of the memory.

    • PURPOSE: To enable speaking at a public telephone or article sale at a vending machine, etc., by means of a new coin by setting new sorting reference data corresponding to the new coin from the outside in the case of issuing the new coin or the like. CONSTITUTION: At a public telephone set provided with a coin sorting part, a normal coin discriminable range is set for discriminating whether the coins of all denominations to be used for this public telephone set are normal or not, and the storage area (an EEPROM 23) of respective sorting reference data corresponding to respective coin denominations are provided. On the other hand, the sorting reference data to be stored in this storage area are prepared as relative data corresponding to the normal coin discriminable range and down loaded from center equipment. As a result, when the new coin is issued or the like, the sorting reference data concerning this newly issued coin can be set as common data corresponding to the respective public telephone sets. Therefore, speaking with the new coin can be immediately executed at each public telephone set.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a public telephone system and center wherein a user can utilize a public phone at any time without the need for using a card and coins and the speech of the user is not forcibly interrupted during the speech.
      SOLUTION: The public telephone system is configured as follows and includes the following steps: (1) a public phone 1 is provided with a living body identification information read section 1-6; (2) a database 2-2 of the center 2 stores personal data (living body identification information, account number, and user's name) of users registered therein; (3) when a user of the public phone 1 makes a phone call to an opposite party, the user allows a processing section 1-1 to read its own living body identification information (e.g., fingerprint) via the living body identification information read section 1-6; (4) the public phone 1 transmits the read living body identification information to the center 2; (5) the center 2 collates the received living body identification information with the personal data in the database 2 and permits the speech from the public phone 1 to the opposite party when the personal data are coincident with the living body identification information; and (6) the center 2 later direct debits the speech charge from the account number of the user.
