The computer-implemented method includes determining an elapsed time between the first time and the second time. The computer-implemented method includes automatically generating a trouble ticket indicating failure of the set top box device when the elapsed time satisfies a first threshold.

An example method for use in maintaining a communication network includes retrieving information related to an operating state of a device associated with a network disturbance; determining whether the information related to the operating state of the device is indicative of a flapping condition; when the operating state information indicates that the flapping condition is present in the network, determining a cause of the flapping condition; when the cause of the flapping condition is a physical cause, selecting a first recovery procedure; and when the cause of the flapping condition is a logical cause, selecting a second recovery procedure different from the first recovery procedure.

摘要： A method and apparatus for collecting and processing line performance data transmitted over cables, e.g., Y-cables, is disclosed. The present invention applies a method based on specific performance measurements, specific measurement time intervals, and compare results from different measurement time intervals to produce a “signature” that indicates deteriorating performance of a particular Y-cable. Once a “signature” is detected, the method will proactively and automatically generate a trouble ticket to trigger the dispatch maintenance staffs to service the cable, e.g., to perform the replacement of the Y-cable in question, thus completing the predictive maintenance process. A trouble ticket is a record used to report and manage the resolution of network related problems.

摘要： An apparatus including a plurality of packet processors each included in one of a plurality of voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) network interfaces. Each of the plurality of packet processors is configured to cache a latest version of realtime transport control protocol (RTCP) report data by discarding an older version of the RTCP report data. The RTCP report data includes at least one of RTCP sender report data and RTCP receiver report data. The apparatus also includes a packet data switching matrix configured to switch packet data between ones of the plurality of VoIP network interfaces. A central processor of the apparatus is configured to generate a final session detail record upon the termination of a VoIP-session by selecting RTCP session-concluding report data from a plurality of RTCP final report data each cached by a corresponding one of the plurality of packet processors.
