摘要： A jacking assembly for moving a load, in steps, axially of a pipe comprises two pawl boxes having lateral platens and which are mounted at axially spaced positions on the pipe. The pawls of the boxes slope towards the pipe and exert a grip on it which allows relative movement between the boxes and the pipe to occur in one direction only. Inflatable hoses connected to a low pressure water supply are sandwiched between the platens and exert a thrust, when dilated, which increases nonlinearly with water pressure, to move whichever of the pawl boxes is carrying the load. This movement, which provides the working stroke, is followed by a recovery stroke during which the pawl box not carrying the load is moved up to the other pawl box under the action of springs or a second inflatable hose. The assembly is able to lift a heavy load with a low pressure water supply and has no moving seals. Its operation in parallel with other such assemblies is also described for house building and slip forming purposes.

摘要： A method for assembling a tank is disclosed in which the uppermost side plate or shell and a roof are assembled on a bottom placed upon a foundation to form the uppermost shell assembly and an air-tight sealing mechanism is disposed within the uppermost shell assembly. The compressed air is introduced into the shell assembly so as to float the same to a predetermined height, and the segments or blocks of the next side plate are placed below the floated uppermost side plate and welded thereto. The above steps are cycled until the lowermost side plate is assembled and the assembly of the tank is completed.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method and means for binding ground surfaces on bedding that is uneven or has a tendency to give way. A building and/or bedding are provided with a system of mutually connected vertical walls forming a grid, said walls forming or being provided with openings into which loose material is introduced to support the walls laterally and vertically after height adjustment or levelling of said wall system. The height adjustment or levelling is accomplished by means of jacks provided in or under the grid-work, and can be effected in one or more stages. The arrangement can be used to reinforce bedding irrespective of whether or not there is a building standing on it; modifications can be made to suit the purpose of the arrangement.

摘要： A house includes a split-slab foundation having an upper portion constructed within an enclosed on-tract factory and a lower portion constructed on the lot. The superstructure of the house is erected upon the upper portion, and the super-structure and upper portion are transported off-highway by air-cushion transport to the lot where the slab upper portion is mated with the lower portion. The upper portion is uniquely constructed with areas of increased thickness to withstand the shear forces of parts of the house having substantial weight, with pipe passageways to accommodate pipes built into the lower portion, and with means for releaseably attaching an air impermeable skirt used for air cushion transport. The lower portion is uniquely constructed with recessed areas to accommodate the areas of the upper portion having increased thickness and the pipes therein are positioned to be in register with the passageways in the upper portion. Both the upper and lower portions are provided with means for securing the upper portion to the lower portion.
