    • An automotive muffler and dust catcher assembly comprising a muffler (1) attached to a dust catcher (2), said muffler having an intake pipe (9) for guiding a motor vehicle's exhaust emission and an outlet pipe (8) for exhaust of intake gas, wherein said motor vehicle's exhaust emission is guided into said muffler (1) by said intake pipe (9), forming into a turbulent flow of gas to stir up and heat water contained in at least said dust catcher (2) and permitting particles in said exhaust emission to be carried in said water and gathered in a dust bag (7) inside said dust catcher (2), also encouraging vibrating waves produced by the exhaust explosion of the motor vehicle's exhaust emission to be gradually absorbed by the moving flow of water in said assembly.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform uniform inflow of exhaust from a front end surface of an exhaust purification catalyst over the whole front end surface without shifting a position of the exhaust purification catalyst to a downstream side of the flow of the exhaust. SOLUTION: An extended part which is obtained by extending a downstream port 4 of an exhaust pipe 2 is deviated toward a front side of an automobile from the front end surface of the exhaust purification catalyst 5, and therefore, a center axis C1 of the exhaust pipe 2 is erected with respect to a center axis C2 of the exhaust purification catalyst 5, and shifting of the exhaust emission control catalyst 5 toward a rear side of the automobile is not required. Further, the exhaust entering an exhaust guide part 6 from the downstream port 4 of the exhaust pipe 2 is abutted on a lower inner surface of the exhaust guide part 6 and is divided into the rear side and the front side of the automobile, and the exhaust divided to the rear side flows into the catalyst 5 from a lower half of the front end surface of the exhaust purification catalyst 5. The exhaust divided to the front side flows forward along an inner surface of an expansion part 7 of the exhaust guide part 6, and changes its direction to the upper side and the rear side by the inner surface, and flows into the catalyst 5 from an upper half of the front end surface of the exhaust purification catalyst 5.
