摘要： A high volume high pressure common rail pump for a fuel system includes pairs of pump head assemblies in phase with each other but oriented in opposition to one another about a rotating cam shaft. Pump pistons in the pump head assemblies simultaneously undergo pumping strokes via a shared two lobe cam of the rotating cam shaft. The pump may include two pairs of pump head assemblies, and each head assembly may include two pump pistons. The cam shaft includes two cams sufficiently out of phase with one another that the cam shaft always has a positive torque even when the cam lobes are symmetrical. In addition, because the pumping is done simultaneously on opposite sides of the cam shaft, the forces on the cam shaft are balanced and its support bearings experience less wear and tear.

摘要： This invention provides a reciprocating pump system having means for determining the cylinder head pressure of at least one cylinder of each pump in the system. A control circuit continually determines the average cylinder head pressure, estimates the pump bearing life that has been consumed and the remaining pump bearing life from the pressure head information. The control circuit also controls the operation of the pumps as a function of cylinder head pressure. A temperature sensor coupled to the pump system provides temperature of the pump oil. The control circuit controls the operation of the pump as function of the pump oil temperature. The pump speed is decrease when the pump oil temperature exceeds a predetermined value. A vibration sensor coupled to the pump provides vibration level to the control circuit, which controls the pump operation in response thereto.

摘要： An apparatus is provided for monitoring a rotor mounted for rotation by bearings within a stationary housing of an apparatus, such as a sealless pump. In a first embodiment, the monitoring apparatus includes at least one magnet mounted on the circumference of the rotor and a plurality of hall effect devices which sense magnetic flux density as the rotor rotates to generate signals representative of radial and axial bearing wear as well as signals representative of the direction of rotation of the rotor. In a further embodiment, the monitoring apparatus includes magnetic material mounted in one or more locations around the rotor or entirely around the rotor and a plurality of hall effect devices and associated magnets mounted within the stationary housing and surrounding the rotor. The monitoring apparatus further includes a monitor for monitoring the amount of electrical power driving the pump as well as a monitor for monitoring the temperature of a containment shell which encloses the rotor within the sealless pump.

A primary bearing and a secondary bearing are positioned in the housing for rotatably supporting the shaft, the primary bearing rotatably supporting the shaft during normal system operation. A first bearing stop and a second bearing stop are positioned on opposite sides of the secondary bearing for transmitting axial forces generated along the shaft for reaction by the motor housing during abnormal system operation. At least a portion of corresponding surfaces of each of the first bearing stop and the second bearing stop facing the secondary bearing have a protective overlying layer of material applied thereto.
