    • A technique for changing the frequency of a reference signal arbitrarily and realizing various types of high quality or high speed imaging is provided for digital ultrasonic diagnosis device utilizing a frequency change phasing method. Reception signals obtained by an array of ultrasonic vibrators are digitized at a sampling frequency higher than their Nyquist frequency, the reception signals are mixed with reference signals respectively, a plurality of samples of them are accumulated in a sampling direction and phased and added by a reception wave focusing means. The reference signals are successively read out of a memory means in order of sampling numbers and used. A reference signal sequence produced from signals whose frequencies are reduced with the lapse of time since the wave is transmitted or a reference signal sequence produced alternately from two signals having different frequencies are stored in the memory means.
