    • An apparatus (10) for applying a twist-tie (100) to a multiple serving, recloseable, flexible packaging container (142) including a payout mechanism (16) for holding a supply of twist-tie material (25). An extracting and cutting mechanism (62) is configured to extract a continuous length of twist-tie material from the supply of twist-tie material (25) and cut a twist-tie (100) of a desired length. A magnetic application mechanism (102) produces a magnetic force sufficient to remove the twist-tie (100) (at least a portion of which is metallic) from the extracting and cutting mechanism (62). A dispensing mechanism (132) dispenses a hot melt adhesive material (134) on the twist-tie (100) held by the magnetic application mechanism (102). The magnetic application mechanism (102) then applies the twist-tie (100) to a surface of a container (142). The adhesive material (134) acts to secure the twist-tie (100) to the container (142).

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet guide device capable of providing a mechanism for guiding sheets to a predetermined position by a simple configuration, of reducing size, and of increasing the speed of sheet guiding operation. SOLUTION: This sheet guide device 10 includes a belt drive 13, a sheet guide 17, and a power control unit 15. Electrodes 41, 42 are buried in the rotating belt 33 of the belt drive. When voltages are applied to the electrodes 41, 42, respectively, the rotating belt is charge-polarized. In this case, an attraction force by charge electricity acts on the sheets 20 by the charges on a sheet supporting surface 62, and the sheets 20 are sucked on the sheet supporting surface. When the front ends 20A of the sheets 20 reach the sheet guide, the positive and negative polarities of the voltages applied to the electrodes 41, 42 are inverted. Since the electrode of the charge on the sheet supporting surface is inverted, the sheets 20 are raised temporarily.     • An electrostatic copying apparatus comprising a rotary drum (12) disposed within a housing (2) and carrying a photosensitive member. The drum includes a shaft (64), bearing members (66) having a circular peripheral surface and mounted respectively on two opposite sides of the shaft (64), and a drum member fixed to the shaft between the bearing members and having the photosensitive member on at least part of its peripheral surface. The apparatus includes a developing device (24) for developing a latent electrostatic image formed on the photosensitive member. The developing device has a frame disposed adjacent the rotary drum and having two side plates (86) spaced from each other by a fixed distance. A cylindrical rotary sleeve (96) is mounted rotatably between the side plates (86) of the frame and extends parallel to the rotary drum (12), the sleeve being for holding developer on its peripheral surface. A pair of spaced apart, guide and members (62) are disposed within the housing. Each member (62) is formed with a shaft support opening (76) comprised by a recess (78) and with a main guide surface (80) extending from the lower end of the recess (78). During insertion of the drum (12) into the housing, the peripheral surfaces of the bearing members (66) are moved along the main guide surfaces (80) so as to enter the recesses (78). The free ends of projecting pieces (88) formed on the side plates (86) are caused to abut the peripheral surfaces of the bearing members (66) whereby to retain the drum in position within the housing and to set the distance between the peripheral surface of the drum member and the peripheral surfaces of the sleeve (96) of the developing device to a predetermined value.
