摘要： The elongate piece to be cut is clamped in a vice (9) and is in abutment against a stop (10), the latter being secured on a shaft (11) free to rotate in bearings. It is connected by a rod (19) and a shaft (20) of adjustable length to an arm (4) which carries the sawing blade (6) whereby, as the sawing operation is carried out, stop (10) rises while pivoting and loses contact with the piece being cut before the sawing operation is finished, thus the cut section is neither projected, wedged, nor even displaced by the friction of the sawing blade (6).

A stationary magazine (26) supports a product upright as a rotary table (38) carries a rotary knife (40) in an orbit that passes beneath the magazine. A freely rotatable centre plate (80) of the blade facilitates movement of the blade through the product. Orbiting movement of the blade is automatically stopped with the blade remote from the magazine and electrical interlocks (109, 112) prevent operation without all protective safety covers (24,102,106) in place. A removable sharpener (172) is attachable to the top of table and operates with the blade flush with the table top. A product follower (118) within the magazine holds the product in place and urges it downward during slicing. The follower in part extends outward between the magazine (26) and magazine cover (106) to allow manual movement and release from a latched raised position, after the magazine cover is closed.

摘要： Apparatus for cutting printing plates, comprises a cutting press with relatively movable platens (5,20) one of which carries a forme cutting tool (4) for severing or partially severing from a processed sheet of flexible material a central image-bearing portion for use as a printing plate. Retractable registration and holding means (35) engage registration targets on said sheet so as to locate the sheet in registry with the forme cutting tool (4) and to hold the sheet in position at least until it is held by the pressure of the cutting tool thereon.
