    • A layout tool is provided for anchoring a layout line, such as a chalk line, in relation to a piece of construction material. The tool (100) generally includes a top plate (102) and a depending plate (106). Angular markings (104) are provided on the top plate (102) to indicate angles, pitches, or the like. The tool (100) further includes an anchor post (110), a spike (108), and a window or opening (112). A construction worker can align the tool (100) with a mark on the construction material by viewing the mark through the opening (112). The worker can strike the plate (106) so that the spike (108) penetrates a side surface of the construction material to secure the tool (100) in the desired position. A chalk line can then be attached to the post (110) and extended a desired length across the construction material in a desired angular orientation by using the markings (104). The chalk line can then be snapped against the construction material to provide a desired layout chalk line.

    • Die Erfindung betrifft einen Zeichenkopf für eine Zeichenmaschine mit einem Grifforgan (4) mit mehreren am Grifforgan (4) angeordneten und von einer auf dem Grifforgan (4) aufliegenden Benutzerhand betätigbaren Betätigungselementen (6, 8, 10) zum Ausführen verschiedener Schaltzustände, wie z.B. Dabei sind mindestens ein Betätigungselement (6, 8) zum Entrasten und/oder Freischalten der Normalseite des Zeichenkopfes (1) und ein Betätigungselement (10) zum Festbremsen der Normalseite des Zeichenkopfes (1) vorgesehen. Das Betätigungselement (10) ist zum Festbremsen am Grifforgan (4) derart angeordnet, daß es gegen die Innenfläche des Handballens der auf dem Grifforgan (4) aufliegenden Benutzerhand anliegt. Vorzugsweise kann das Betätigungselement (6, 8) zum Entrasten und/oder Freischalten im Griffbereich der auf dem Grifforgan (4) aufliegenden Benutzerhand angeordnet sein.

    • A pallet is automatically assembled and nailed together on a horizontally reciprocating carrier (10). The carrier (10) moves in a forward direction beneath a slat dispenser (14). A first series of one-way trip dogs (54) mounted on the carrier (10) successively removes the bottom slat (9) from a stack of slats held by a dispenser (14) to deposit a series of slats (9) onto the carrier (10) to form the bottom deck of a pallet. The carrier (10) has stringer engagement levers (80) which engage the ends of a series of stringers (8) held in dispensers (16). The carrier (10) reverses direction after deposit of the bottom series of slats (9) and each stringer engagement lever (80) pulls a stringer (8) from the dispenser (16) with each stringer (8) positioned transversely to the previously dispensed slats (9). As the carriage (10) moves in the reverse direction, another series of one-way trip dogs (54) mounted on the carrier (10) successively dispenses a second series of slats (7) to form the top deck of the pallet. The carrier (10) with the laid-up pallet next moves to a nailing station (18) where nailers (130) automatically fasten the top and bottom slats (7 and 9) to the stringers (8). The carrier (10) then moves to a ratcheted bottom-stacking device (20) which removes a nailed pallet from the carrier (10) and adds that pallet to the bottom of a vertical stack of pallets.
