    • A thrust control valve includes a nozzle having a gas supply chamber, a gas jetting chamber and a connecting passage therebetween. The nozzle has an upstream inner surface defining the gas supply chamber and a downstream inner surface defining the gas jetting chamber. The valve also includes a plug axially movably inserted into the gas supply chamber, the connecting passage and the gas jetting chamber. The plug has an upstream outer surface facing the upstream inner surface to define an upstream passage and a downstream outer surface facing the downstream inner surface to define a downstream passage. The plug can control thrust by simultaneously changing sectional areas of the upstream and downstream passages by an axial movement of the plug.

    • To provide a jet propulsion watercraft that allows a step, a vent hole, and the like to be easily provided on a bottom surface thereof. A ride plate of a jet propulsion watercraft is a member, which is formed into a substantially rectangular shape in compliance to an opening in a bottom surface of a hull bottom. The ride plate is provided with a lock tab at a front edge thereof, and bolt holes are made in a right and left end portion thereof. The ride plate is further provided with a step portion that forms part of a general bottom surface, since it is flush with the general bottom surface, a higher level surface that forms a flat surface higher than the step portion by a predetermined distance, and a pair of vent holes that pass vertically through the higher level surface at a position therein closer to the step portion.

    • To simplify a mounting job for a filter and a lid at a water intake port. A filter accommodation chamber of a cylindrical shape forms a water intake port that is provided in a side wall of a stator having therein an impeller rotatably disposed. A filter of a cylindrical shape is placed in the filter accommodation chamber and an opening in the filter accommodation chamber is closed by a lid of a circular shape through either screwing or press-fitting. A flow path is integrally formed with a peripheral wall of the filter accommodation chamber. A bottom portion of the cylindrical filter is formed into an inclined surface. An inclined step portion, which abuts against an edge portion of the inclined surface of filter, is formed in the filter accommodation chamber. In addition, an opening, which communicates with the flow path when the inclined surface edge portion of the cylindrical filter and the inclined step portion abut against each other so that the two are brought into coincidence with each other, is formed in the cylindrical filter. Part of an inner peripheral surface of the filter accommodation chamber and part of an outer peripheral surface of the cylindrical filter may be formed into a flat surface.

    • An axial-flow outboard water jet propulsion unit is designed so that it does not extend below the bottom of the boat hull, but rather is disposed directly behind the hull transom. This is achieved by arranging the impeller shaft generally perpendicular to a generally vertical drive shaft, and by installing the impeller in a flow-through duct which, although placed directly behind the transom, has an inlet for taking in water located directly below the impeller shaft. The duct does not extend to a depth lower than the lowest point of the hull bottom. The impeller shaft penetrates the duct wall, while the impeller itself is rotatable inside the duct. The impeller impels water rearward toward a convergent exit nozzle of the duct, sucking in water through the duct intake. The aft opening of the exit nozzle forms the duct discharge outlet.

    • A water intake and transmission system for simultaneously driving dual jet units of a jet boat. According to a preferred embodiment, the water intake includes dual channels to allow the uptake of dedicated streams of water. Mounted to the intake is a housing having first and second jet units encased therein wherein each jet unit receives a dedicated stream of water from a respective channel of the water intake. A transmission is operatively coupled to each respective jet unit and is further connected to the driveshaft of the boat engine, preferably via gears, belt-drives, and/or chain drives, that is operative to simultaneously drive both jet units from a single driveshaft.
