    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydrogen separation membrane where the growth of the crystals of inclusions in a melt is suppressed, the further reduction of the inclusions is attained, and the further thinning of a membrane can be easily and securely performed in a short time.
      SOLUTION: The method for producing a hydrogen separation membrane comprises: a first metal melting stage (S101) where a stock metal such as a Pd alloy is melted, so as to obtain a melt, and further, the reduction of inclusions in the melt is performed; a rapid solidification casting stage (S102) where the melt obtained in the first metal melting stage (S101) is rapidly solidified by a mold, so as to be cast, thus the accumulation of the inclusions in the melt is suppressed, and they are finely dispersed; and a rolling stage (S103) where the rapidly solidified body obtained by the rapid solidification in the rapid solidification casting stage (S102) is rolled, so as to be foil. By suppressing the growth of inclusions as the cause of a defect upon the rolling, and refining them, the prevention of a defect generated upon the rolling of a hydrogen separation membrane is attained.
