    • The invention relates to a reluctance disc rotor machine, abbreviated to RDM, which is combined with an integrated short circuit cage as synchronous and asynchronous machine and, according to the invention, has the advantages of building in a compact, relatively short and with regards to the manufacturing technology easy manner, of having a considerably reduced accelerated mass of the rotor, of being self-starting in the asynchronous mode even in case of direct mains operation, of continuing to run in an energy-efficient manner in the synchronous mode, of turning into a generator at over-synchronous mechanical drive speed without any change to the machine and of emitting electrical power over the stators to the network. As a switched reluctance machine the RDM is shown having a soft iron disc rotor (131). The torque is achieved uninterruptedly by means of the increasing external radii of the disc rotor, which are offset with respect to one another by the offset e, to the magnetic fields of the E-magnets acting axially on the flat face, when the E-magnets, which are each at the favourable angle of rotation, are switched on or off, the energised magnets, permanently revolving, attract the uninterrupted minimal reluctances of the soft iron rotor disc, whereas in each case the E-magnets, which just before the complete reluctance saturation are in the disc rotors, are switched off all round and release the disc rotors magnetically in these regions. This type of application is generally connected to rotor position encoders or appropriately adapted frequency converters.
