    • A process for the enzymatic separation of optical isomers (S + ) and (R ) of 2-aminobutanol comprises esterifying a N-carbamovl derivative of formula:
      wherein R is a C 1 -C 3 alkyl group or a benzyl group, with an ester of formula:
      wherein R, R, which may be the same or different, are C 1 -C 6 alkyl groups, at a temperature from 0 to 60°C, in the presence of a lipase capable of giving rise to the esterification, in a stereoselective way, on optical isomer (R') of the N-carbamoyl derivative, and separating and hydrolyzing, by means of known methods, the obtained products (non-reacted (S) N-carbamoyl derivative, and the formed ester) to give rise to (S + ) 2-aminobutanol and (R ) 2-aminobutanol respectively.

    • The present invention concerns the preparation of S(+) α-aryl-alkanoic acids through reacting a racemic ester (R,S) of the formula:
      wherein:

      R represents a -C≡CH, - CH=CH 2 , -CN, -COCH 3 , -COO alk or -CH 2 -O-alk group where the alkyl group contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms;
      Ar represents an aryl or an aryl substituted or condensed with other groups, in particular a group of the formula:
