摘要： The present invention is a method to start-up a process to make expandable vinyl aromatic polymer pellets comprising, a) providing a pelletizer (S) containing means to introduce the molten vinyl aromatic polymer comprising the expandable agent and optionally additives, a die plate having a plurality of holes of small diameter, typically in the range 0.8 to 1.6 mm and cutting means to make pellets, b) providing a pelletizer (L) containing means to introduce the molten vinyl aromatic polymer comprising the expandable agent and optionally additives, a die plate having a plurality of holes of large diameter, typically in the range 3 to 5 mm and cutting means to make pellets, c) sending the expandable vinyl aromatic polymer pellets comprising an expandable agent and optionally additives to the pelletizer (L) until the polymer flow rate is in the operating range of the pelletizer (S) and provided the proportion of expandable agent and optional additives are in the specifications, d) switching the molten vinyl aromatic polymer stream comprising the expandable agent and optionally additives to the pelletizer (S) and operating said pelletizer (S) at conditions effective to produce expandable vinyl aromatic polymer pellets, e) recovering from pelletizer (S) the expandable vinyl aromatic polymer pellets, f) recovering the pellets produced at step c) for optional subsequent recycling in the molten state at step d). In another embodiment while the pelletizer (S) is in production and troubles happen in the introduction of the expanding agent and/or the optionnal additives or in any equipment or even an equipment needs maintenance the production is switched from the pelletizer (S) to one or more pelletizers (L). When the troubles are over, the production is switched from the pelletizer (L) to the pelletizer (S). In an embodiment while the pelletizer (S) is in production the die plate of the pelletizer (L) having a plurality of holes of large diameter is removed and replaced by a die plate having a plurality of holes of small diameter to convert said pelletizer (L) into a pelletizer (S) capable to produce expandable vinyl aromatic polymer pellets. By way of example said established pelletizer (S) is used during maintenance of the other pelletizer (S).

摘要： The present invention relates to methods for joining materials as well as articles manufactured using such processes. The invention pertains to a process for joining a first substrate to a second substrate. The process includes irradiating a portion of a first substrate with a laser beam having a first wavelength and intensity sufficient to increase the absorbance of the first substrate to light having a second, different wavelength. The laser beam may carbonize at least a portion of the irradiated portion of the first substrate imparting a higher absorbance to light than non-irradiated portions of the first substrate. A second substrate is then placed in contact with the irradiated portion of the first substrate. The first substrate is then irradiated with a second laser having a second wavelength, different to the first wavelength; with a sufficient intensity to heat and, preferably melt, the irradiated portion of the first substrate.

摘要： A droplet deposition apparatus, such as an inkjet printhead, that includes an integrally-formed manifold component, and a fluid-flow component that is shaped generally as a plug shaped to be received within a corresponding socket provided by the manifold component. The apparatus further includes one or more actuator components, which provide first and second arrays of fluid chambers; each such chamber has a piezoelectric actuator element and a nozzle, with this piezoelectric actuator element being able to cause the release in a deposition direction of fluid droplets through the nozzle in response to electrical signals. The arrays of fluid chambers extend side-by-side in an array direction from a respective first longitudinal end to a respective second, opposite longitudinal end, this array direction being perpendicular to the deposition direction. The manifold component is elongate in the array direction and includes first, second and third manifold chambers, with these manifold chambers extending side-by-side in the array direction. The first manifold chamber located between the second and third manifold chambers and is fluidically connected to the second manifold chamber via each of the fluid chambers in the first array, and to the third manifold chamber via each of the fluid chambers in the second array. The manifold component further includes first, second and third conduits, the first conduit branching into the second and third conduits at a fluid junction provided by the manifold component and the fluid-flow component together; the second and third conduits are connected respectively to the second and third manifold chambers. When viewed in the deposition direction the fluid junction overlaps with the first manifold chamber.

摘要： An object is to prevent the occurrence of sheet defects by preventing the dropping of a liquid of low-molecular-weight components in a polymer, diluents, and additives adhering to a rectifier disposed inside a decompression chamber in a production method for a microporous polyolefin resin sheet including discharging a solution including a mixture of a polyolefin resin and a diluent in a sheet shape from a mouthpiece to a cooling/hardening device and cooling the sheet while aspirating the air between the sheet and the cooling/hardening device with an aspiration chamber. Another object is to forcibly aspirate a liquid of low-molecular-weight components in a polymer, diluents, and additives adhering to the rectifier by, while using a production device for a microporous polyolefin resin sheet having a mouthpiece that discharges a liquid including a mixture of a polyolefin resin and a diluent in a sheet shape, a cooling/hardening device that cools the sheet discharged from the mouthpiece, and a decompression chamber that aspirates the air between the sheet and the cooling/hardening device, disposing a rectifier inside the decompression chamber, aspirating each of the inside of the decompression chamber and the inside of the rectifier, and keeping the pressure inside the rectifier lower than the pressure inside the decompression chamber.

摘要： A flexible hose for transporting fluid, particularly a flexible garden hose for transporting water. The hose comprises: at least one inner layer (10) made of a first elastic polymeric material; at least one outer layer (20) made of a second elastic polymeric material; at least one textile reinforcement layer (30, 40) interposed between said at least one inner layer (10) and at least one outer layer (20). The at least one inner layer (10) and the at least one outer layer (20) are reciprocally coupled to form a unitary tubular member (50) internally to which the at least one textile reinforcement layer (30, 40) is embedded. The unitary tubular member (50) has an elasticity such to automatically elongate upon the working pressure given by the liquid flowing therethrough to increase its original length and such to automatically recovery once the working pressure stops for assuming again the original length. The at least one textile reinforcement layer (30, 40) is susceptible to move from a rest configuration that has when the working pressure stops to a working configuration that has when said unitary tubular member (50) elongates upon the working pressure and vice-versa.
