摘要： According to this method, the mapping color LUT has input colors that sample not only a source color gamut (included in an input encoding color space in which inputs colors of this LUT are encoded) but also a portion of the input encoding color space which is not included in the source color gamut. Preferably, this color LUT further includes output colors located outside the target color gamut. Accuracy of the mapping is improved, notably for source colors located near the boundary of the source color gamut.

摘要： A method of determining a luma value from 4:4:4 RGB video data for encoding chroma downsampled 4:2:0 YCbCr video data into a bitstream. A location, in a colour space defined by linear luminance and non-linear 4:2:0 chroma values, is determined (1004) from the RGB video data. A region that contains the determined location is determined (1006), the region being one region of a plurality of regions located in the colour space and having a plurality of associated coefficients. One or more of the coefficients associated with the determined region are selected (1008), the selected coefficients being used to map the linear luminance and non-linear 4:2:0 chroma values to a luma value that compensates for a luminance shift introduced by chroma downsampling of the non-linear 4:2:0 chroma values. The method then determines (1012) the luma value for encoding into the bitstream according to a function of the selected coefficients and the determined location.

摘要： Dithering techniques for images are described herein. An input image of a first bit depth is separated into a luma and one or more chroma components. A model of the optical transfer function (OTF) of the human visual system (HVS) is used to generate dither noise which is added to the chroma components of the input image. The model of the OTF is adapted in response to viewing distances determined based on the spatial resolution of the chroma components. An image based on the original input luma component and the noise-modified chroma components is quantized to a second bit depth, which is lower than the first bit depth, to generate an output dithered image.

The method determines if the video content includes an RGB or YUV444 color format or a YUV422 color format. If the color scheme includes RGB or YCbCr444 data and separate encoding is used, then all three color components are encoded separately using scalar EGC. If the color scheme includes RGB or YCbCr444 data and joint encoding is used, then all three color components are jointly encoded using joint scalar EGC. If the color scheme includes YCbCr422 data and separate encoding is used, then Y, U and V are encoded separately using scalar EGC.
