    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical variable filter array device permitting selection of a desired wavelength of a desired channel from WDM lights of a plurality of channels.SOLUTION: WDM signal lights on m channels comprising wavelengths λ1 to λn from optical fibers 11-1 to 11-m are brought to incidence on a wavelength dispersing element 17 via a concave mirror 16. The wavelength dispersing element 17 disperses the incident lights into different directions according to the wavelength of each and inputs the lights to a concave mirror 18. On the concave mirror 18, the lights on the channels are developed on an xy plane according to the channel and the wavelength by making them parallel in a band shape. A wavelength selecting element 19 is a pixel structure formed in a lattice shape, and places pixels on each channel and wavelength to be selected in a reflective state. Lights reflected by the wavelength selecting element 19 are emitted via the same route to optical fibers 15-1 to 15-m. By varying the reflective characteristic of the wavelength selecting element 19 from pixel to pixel, a desired wavelength of a desired WDM light can be selected.
