    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a lubricant base oil which allows for sufficiently high yield of the lubricant base oil having a sufficiently high flowability at a low temperature and having a viscosity index, being obtained from a hydrocarbon oil containing a normal paraffin and/or one-branched isoparaffin. SOLUTION: A process for producing a lubricant base oil comprises a step of contacting a hydrocarbon oil containing a normal paraffin and/or one-branched isoparaffin with a first catalyst containing a first molecular sieve having a one-dimensional fine structure comprising a 10- or 8-membered ring, and with a second catalyst containing a second molecular sieve having a one-dimensional fine structure comprising a 10- or 8-membered ring, in this order, in the presence of hydrogen, wherein the first molecular sieve comprises a metal component having hydrogenation activity and an acid point, and the second molecular sieve substantially does not have a metal component having hydrogenation activity, but has an acid point.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricant base oil, excellent in low temperature characteristics, and satisfying both of viscosity-temperature characteristics and low temperature viscosity characteristics in high levels, a method for producing the same and also a lubricant composition containing the lubricant base oil.
      SOLUTION: This lubricant base oil is characterized by having a 4-6 mass% urea adduct value and a ≥100 viscosity index. Also, the method for producing the lubricant base oil is provided by performing hydrocracking by using vacuum distillation distillate oil, mild hydrocracking-treated oil of the vacuum distillation distillate, de-asphalted oil, mild hydrocracking-treated oil of the de-asphalted oil or a mixed oil of at least two of them as a raw material in the presence of a hydrocracking catalyst and further, treating the product by combining a de-aromatic treatment and a wintering treatment so that the obtained treated material has the 4-6 mass% range urea adduct value and ≥100 viscosity index. Also, the lubricant composition contains the above lubricant base oil.
