    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition which can combine the viscosity-temperature characteristics and the low-temperature viscosity characteristics at a high level, and which keeps a satisfactory low frictional property, namely, fuel consumption saving, even at the time of the deterioration of such a lubricating oil as that due to the contamination with soot or metal wear powder, and is excellent in the durability such as the wear proofness and cleanability and in the oxidative stability and also makes possible the low ashing, and also which is capable of satisfactorily maintaining the performance of a waste-gas after-treatment device over a long period. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition comprises a base oil of a lubricating oil having a urea-adduct value of 4% by mass or less and a viscosity index of 100 or more, and on the basis of the total amount of the composition, 0.01-10% by mass of an ashless friction adjuster, and 0.01-0.2% by mass, in terms of a phosphorus quantity, of a phosphorus-containing wear-proofing agent.
