    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flow control actuator that can be housed in an airfoil section which is relatively narrow in depth and continuously takes out a flow from a pressurized fluid source.SOLUTION: The flow control actuator 10 for a body exposed to a fluid flow includes first and second flow surfaces 14, 16 mutually spaced apart to define a longitudinal gap 20 therebetween. A longitudinal control element is placed in or adjacent to the gap, has an outwardly arcuate surface, defines a first slot 24 between the control element and the first flow surface, and defines a second slot 26 between the control element and the second flow surface. The control element 22 is adapted to be movable so as to allow the first and second slots to be generally proportionally adjusted in width. A flow of pressurized flow control fluid passes out of a plenum chamber 30 through one or both of the slots 24, 26 and is deflected around the arcuate surface by the Coanda effect.
