    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TN (Twist Nematic) liquid crystal display device in which viewing angle displaying properties, particularly, field angle contrast is improved. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device composed of a liquid crystal cell of a TN alignment mode and a pair of polarizing plates arranged on both the sides of the liquid crystal cell, an optical compensation sheet having at least three layers of the following (1), (2) and (3) is arranged at least between either polarizing film and the liquid crystal. There are provided: (1) a transparent film 1 satisfying following inequalities (I) and (II); (2) an optically anisotropic layer 1 composed of a polymer layer and formed by coating; and (3) an optically anisotropic layer comprising a liquid crystal compound formed by coating. The inequality (I) is shown by 0≤Re (630) ≤10, and ¾Rth (630) ¾≤25, and the inequality (II) is shown by ¾Re (400) -Re (700) ¾≤10, and ¾Rth (400) -Rth (700) ¾≤35; wherein, Re ( λ ) denotes a frontal retardation value (unit: nm) in the wavelength λnm, and Rth ( λ ) denotes a retardation value (unit: nm) in the film thickness direction in the wavelength λnm.
