    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in image quality and realize color reproduction of high image quality, in color transformation definition making the best use of color reproduction property.
      SOLUTION: A color is fixed on an L* axis of a first to a fifth ranges L11-L15 within a first intensity region L110 at a second image apparatus. Then, an intensity color line, of which the intensity changes with a constant ratio in the saturation direction, is established from a demarcation point of each range on the L* axis. Next, an intensity color line is established in parallel to a C* axis, so that intensity may become constant in the saturation direction from a demarcation point of a ninth and a tenth ranges L19 and L20 within a second intensity region L120 at the second image apparatus. Then, a color is fixed on the L* axis of a sixth to an eighth ranges L16-L18 within the first intensity region L110, and an intensity color line, of which the intensity changes with a constant ratio in the saturation direction, is established from a demarcation point of each range on the L* axis.

      SOLUTION: The transmission type image display apparatus 1 includes: imaging sections 111 for picking up a subject; display sections 100 for displaying the image picked up; eyepiece optical systems 101; and plate-like members 102 holding the corresponding eyepiece optical systems 101 and having transmission image display sections 102a. The transmission type image display apparatus 1 is used such that the eyepiece optical systems 101 are located in front of the corresponding eyes of an observer and the plate-like members 102 face the eyes. Light from each display section 100 is guided to the corresponding eye by the corresponding eyepiece optical system 101, and the virtual image of an image displayed by the display section 100 is provided on the corresponding transmission image display section 102a. Light from surroundings is transmitted to each transmission image display section 102a and guided to the corresponding eye, and thus the image of the surroundings is provided. The apparatus 1 has a control section 110 for exerting control so that the maximum peak of the MTF characteristic of the actual image matches the maximum peak of the MTF characteristic of the virtual image.
