    • PURPOSE:To improve appropriateness for twist by melting by heat polyester resin of which the ultimate viscosity is in a specified range and of which the melting viscosity at a specified temperature is a specified poise of above, and by extruding the same within a specified range of a draw ratio. CONSTITUTION:Polyester resin of which the ultimate viscosity is 0.5 to 1.0 and of which the melting viscosity at the temperature of 265 deg.C is 2300 poise or above is melted by heating and extruded from a T die in a draw ratio within the range of 2 through 150. On the occasion of cooling, the temperature of a first chill roll is set at 40 deg.C to the glass transition point, while the temperature of a second chill roll cooling down the opposite side is set within the range of the glass transition point to the glass transition point +15 deg.C, and a low- orientation polyester film is obtained by this cooling. This method enables attainment of the polyester film being excellent in appropriateness for twist, having physical properties balanced between the length and the width and being excellent in transparency.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance a workability in producing pellets without entrapment of bubbles inside by a method wherein thermoplastic resin strands are extruded into grooves of a cooling roll having the ring grooves at right angles to the direction of a rotating shaft, held therein, and cooled while the non-contact surfaces thereof are cooled by a cooling belt, and the strands are cut. CONSTITUTION:Under a strand die 1, a cooling roll 4 provided with ring grooves 5 on the surface thereof at right angles to a rotating shaft is controlled to be cooled to a predetermined temperature range. Strands 2 in a melt state extruded from the die 1 are led into the ring grooves 5 of the cooling roll 4 at contact points 3 to be cooled. Between the contact point 3 and a release point 6, the strand 2 in tne ring groove 5 is held by a cooling belt 9 controlled to a predetermined temperature range. Thus, the both surface of the strand 2 are cooled to the order of a room temperature. The strands 2 are cut into pellets 15 by a cutter 14. The predetermined temperature range is a temperature range 5 deg.C lower than the glass transition point of a thermoplastic resin to a room temperature. Therefore, the strand is not quickly cooled, thus being prevented from foaming, and bubble-free pellets can be easily produced.
