SOLUTION: A beam terminal end part 12a is secured by means of a bolt to a bracket which is secured by means of a bolt 22 to a terminal end support column 11. A front cover 14 and a rear cover 15 are superposed over the front and rear surfaces of the beam terminal end part 12a, and these three are integrally incorporated with one another by a fixing member. In their superposed parts, the beam terminal end part 12a, the rear cover 15 and the rear surface of the front cover 14 have substantially the same sectional shape. An upper surface cover 16 is attached to the upper surface. At lease one of the front cover 14, the rear cover 15 and the front cover 14 is made of resin or rubber. The fixing member has an expandable front end part (bulged part), and when it is pushed into attaching holes formed in these three components 14, 12a, 15, the front end part expands so as to prevent the fixing member from coming off. Since the guard rail is covered in the vicinity of the terminal end support column 11 and the beam terminal end part 12a, it exhibits a satisfactory external view. Since the upper edge of the beam terminal end part 12a is not exposed, and the cover is made of resin or rubber, it is safe for pedestrians.

The upper surface cover 24 has substantially the same shape as the horizontally sectional shape of the upper surface part of the conduit-like cover 23 so that the conduit-like cover 11 inserted from above, is made at its inner surface part into contact with a cover attaching fitting 25 provided at the outer peripheral part of the support column 11 while the upper surface part of the conduit cover 23 is made into contact with the upper surface cover 24, and thereafter, it is fixed at several points by expandable pins.
