    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost and to improve reliability by simplifying an apparatus, and facilitating the movement control of a ledge.
      SOLUTION: This accumulating and delivering apparatus has a sheet stacking base; a stacking base moving means for moving the stacking base between a stacking position for stacking sheets, and a delivering position for delivering a group of sheets; the ledge for receiving and stacking the sheets while the stacking base moves from the stacking position; and a ledge control means for controlling the movement of the ledge. The ledge is a single ledge between the stacking position and a sheet feeding position, and the apparatus further has a ledge reciprocating means for reciprocating the ledge between a sheet receiving position for receiving the sheets to be stacked, above the stacking position, and a waiting position located upstream in the delivering direction from the receiving position. The ledge control means controls the ledge reciprocating means to start moving the ledge from the waiting position to the receiving position, based on the information of the number of sheets stacked on the stacking base.
