    • PURPOSE:To easily take out copy sheets received on receiving shelves in the sorting apparatus of a copying machine or the like by receiving the copy sheets on the receiving shelves separated at intervals of one step or more and by collating the copy sheets. CONSTITUTION:Copy sheets are sent to the entrance 5 of an apparatus main body 1, and then the copy sheets are received on the receiving shelves 2a-2h through a sheet detecting sensor 7 by a belt transport means 6. A detecting sensor 4 cannot detect copy sheets any more when the receiving of the sheets is finished, and then all receiving shelves 2a-2h are displaced to an upper direction A. Therefore, the slit detecting sensor 4 cannot detect the slit 3d of the receiving shelf in which the receiving the copy sheet has been already finished. Subsequently, the displacement to the upper direction A is not stopped even if a slit 3e is detected, and the displacement is stopped, when the slit 3f is detected namely when the second slit after the displacement is started is detected. As described above, the receiving shelves are separated at interval of one step in order to receive the copy sheets, so that the copy sheets can be collated.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a sorter for a copying machine or the like to a compact size by oscillating a plurality of trays at small pitch portions of a feed screw member and quickly oscillating a tray passing a sorting position at large pitch portions. CONSTITUTION:When a screw rod 8 is rotated forward by a motor 22, upper and lower nuts 9, 10 formed in small pitch are moved upward so that each tray 4 is moved upward through a lower spring 14. When a tongue piece 18 of an assigned tray 4''' is fitted in a spiral groove 17 of a guide nut 11, the tray is quickly moved in a large pitch to enlarge an interval with a low tray 41 at a position corresponding to a sorting position P, so that paper B is smoothly stored in the tray without jamming. In this arrangement, even if the interval between the trays is narrowed to reduce the sorter to a compact size, a paper jam can be prevented.

CONSTITUTION:A sorter is formed such that a plurality of trays 4 (4-1-4-10), disposed in a multistage, are fastened to an elevating member 6 which is adapted to elevate along a stay 7 via the medium of a chain 10 through running of a drive motor 12.     • PURPOSE:To provide a low power, light weight and compact sheet sorter by making a follower of a bin tray in a copier or the like engage a spiral cam every time said cam rotates so as to move the bin tray. CONSTITUTION:When a sheet sorter is activated from the stopping condition, a pair of groove-type spiral cams 24 supported on the upper portions of vertically pivotable shafts 18, 19 are rotated by the reversal of a motor 23.
