    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for generating color mapping relating to a dental object.SOLUTION: The method includes a step of generating a transformation matrix according to a set of spectral reflectance data on a statistically valid sampling of teeth. The dental object is illuminated over at least first, second and third wavelength bands, that is, over each wavelength band at a time. An image data value corresponding to each of the at least first, second and third wavelength bands is obtained for each of a plurality of pixels in an imaging array. A set of visual color values relating to each of the plurality of pixels is generated according to the obtained image data value and according to an image data value obtained from a reference object at the at least first, second and third wavelength bands. Thus, the transformation matrix is applied to form color mapping. The color mapping can be stored in an electronic memory.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system which is capable of high precision color reproduction, inspection and determination and which has a compact and lightweight imaging part with excellent portability. SOLUTION: The image processing system includes an image photographing part which has two or more light emitting devices having different spectral distribution characteristics, an imaging optical system and imaging element part, and a control part controlling light emission and imaging in a spectroscopic image acquisition mode and moving image acquisition mode, and an image processing part which calculates color grade data from the spectroscopic images of a subject obtained in the spectroscopic image acquisition mode. In the spectroscopic image acquisition mode, the control part orders the sequential light emission of the two or more light emitting devices and performs control so as to photograph still images two or more times synchronizing with the emission. In the moving image acquisition mode, the control part orders either the light emission of a light emitting device emitting a specific primary color, the simultaneous light emission of two or more light emitting devices, or the sequential group-to-group light emission of two or more device groups including two or more light emitting devices having different spectral distribution characteristics and performs control so as to acquire moving images.
