    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of preventing the lifetime of a display from being shortened due to longer preheating time as a sort of a display preheating method. SOLUTION: The display is switched to a preheating mode by depressing at least one adjustment key and an image pattern is generated on a display panel to perform preheating processing. Since the image pattern generated by an OSD control center or an image size processor is not an external image signal, combination of image output devices is unnecessary at the time of preheating the display, so that time and costs required for preheating the display are reduced and the efficiency of preheating is improved.       SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with backlights 32, 33, 34, 35 divided in the scanning direction of a liquid crystal panel 26. One frame of a video input signal VD is divided into four frame blocks [1], [2], [3], [4] corresponding to the length in the scanning direction of the backlights 32, 33, 34, 35.
