    • PURPOSE: A method for preparing a polyalphaolefin having low viscosity which can be mainly used as engine oil for automobiles is provided which prepares the polyolefin at high yield under ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION: The method for preparing the polyalphaolefin having low viscosity uses 1-octene as an alphaolefin, and uses EADC(ethyl aluminum dichloride) or a solution of EADC diluted with 1-octene and a solution of TBC(t-butyl chloride) diluted with 1-octene as catalysts. The low-viscosity polyalphaolefin having kinetic viscosity of 20 - 80 cSt. at 40°C is prepared by adding the solution of TBC diluted with 1-octene to 1-octene and thereto adding EADC or the solution of EADC diluted with 1-octene, or adding both of the catalysts to 1-octene simultaneously, and then reacting the mixture under ambient temperature and atmospheric pressure.
