    • Systems and methods for driving solid state light sources are provided. A first drive circuit is configured to generate a drive current to cause a first solid state light source load and a second solid state light source load to illuminate. A feedback and control circuit is configured to receive feedback from the first solid state light source load and to control the drive current through the first solid state light source load based on the feedback. A second drive circuit is configured to control the drive current through the second solid state light source load. A master controller is configured to provide a first input to the feedback and control circuit to control the drive current through the first solid state light source load and a second input to the second drive circuit to control the drive current through the second solid state light source load.

    • A luminaire is provided, that includes a housing and a plurality of solid state light sources connected thereto. The housing has a top side, two lateral sides, a protrusion in the top side, and two light source mounting surfaces. The top side is diffusely reflecting and has opposing lateral edges and a center. The lateral sides are specularly reflecting and extend generally downward from the opposing lateral edges of the top side. Each has a respective bottom edge. The light source mounting surfaces extend laterally inward from the respective bottom edges. The plurality of solid state light sources is disposed along the pair of light source mounting surfaces proximate the pair of specularly reflecting lateral sides. These emit light, which travels upward to the top side and is also specuarly reflected by the lateral sides toward the top side. The top side diffusely reflects the light out of the luminaire.

    • Systems and methods to change a light output level using adaptive frequency control are provided. A switched mode power converter is configured to switch output current to a light emitting diode (LED) module, which includes an LED lighting element, at a switching frequency. Control circuitry is configured to receive a dimming control input that corresponding to a desired light output level of the LED module. The control circuitry is also configured to provide a pulse width modulation (PWM) output configured to pulse width modulate the output current, the PWM output having a pulse width, a PWM frequency, and a PWM period corresponding to the PWM frequency. The control circuitry is also configured to adjust at least one of the PWM period and the switching period in response to a change in the dimming control input, such that a light output level of the LED module is appropriately changed.

The driver includes a feedback circuit, a driver circuit providing a driver signal to a half bridge inverter, and a step-dim interface coupled to a first alternating current input line, a second alternating current input line, and a neutral line, providing voltage to the driver circuit. The driver also includes a first feedforward circuit coupled to the step-dim interface, where the first feedforward circuit receives a first signal from the step-dim interface based on the states of the first alternating current input line, the second alternating current input line, and the neutral line. In a first state, the driver provides full current to a load, and in a second state, the driver provides less than full current to the load.

    • A lamp (10), such as a rapid thermal processing (“RTP) lamp, is sealed with a press seal (30) that contains a fuse (40). A relatively long press seal region is used that accommodates, in addition to the conventional filament leads to the exterior of the lamp, the fuse as well, the fuse (40) being disposed inside an inert-gas filled void (34) which is formed in the press seal (30), the fuse being thus disposed in an inert environment, such as nitrogen. The void (34) is defined by a bubble (36) formed in the press seal. Alternatively, the void (34) can be defined by an inside region of a glass capillary tube (42) that jackets the fuse and is squeezed into the press seal.
