The apparatus can include a charge receptor (110) movable in a process direction P, where the charge receptor can have a main surface (111). The apparatus can include a charger (140) configured to generate a charge on the charge receptor and an image generator (118) configured to generate an image on the charge receptor. The apparatus can include a cleaning station (124) coupled to the charge receptor. The cleaning station can include a cleaning brush (125) coupled to the main surface of the charge receptor. The cleaning station can be configured to clean the main surface of the charge receptor. The apparatus can include a controller (150) coupled to the cleaning station. The controller can be configured to determine a type of image generated on the charge receptor and can be configured to adjust cleaning parameters of operation of the cleaning station based on the type of image generated on the charge receptor.

    • An enhanced sheet stripping method and apparatus for stripping toner image carrying copy sheets from a surface of a moving heated fusing member forming a fusing nip. The apparatus includes (a) a moving assembly for moving a cut sheet towards the fusing nip; (b) a sheet curling device positioned upstream of the fusing nip relative to movement of the cut sheet for inducing a desired pre-curl in the cut sheet before the cut sheet enters the fusing nip; and (c) a sheet stripping device positioned downstream of the fusing nip for stripping the cut sheet from contact with the surface of the moving heated fusing member as the cut sheet exits the fusing nip. The method includes inducing a desired curl in the cut sheet before the cut sheet enters the fusing nip and enhanced stripping the cut sheet from contact with the surface of the fuser roll as the cut sheet exits the fusing nip.

    • An apparatus (100) and method (500) that controls the change of direction of a fusing belt in a printing apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus can include a fusing belt (120) configured to rotate about an axis of rotation (128). The apparatus can include at least one fusing belt support roller (131) where the fusing belt can be entrained on the fusing belt support roller. The apparatus can include a pressure roller (132) that contacts the fusing belt to form a fusing nip (137), where the pressure roller, the heater, and the fusing belt can be configured to fuse an image on a media sheet (112) in the fusing nip. The apparatus can include a belt position changing mechanism (150) configured to move the fusing belt axially in a first direction and in a second direction opposite the first direction relative the axis of rotation. The apparatus can include a belt position changing control module (152) coupled to the belt position changing mechanism. The belt position changing control module can be configured to change an axial location of a change in direction from the first direction to the second direction so the fusing belt changes direction from the first direction to the second direction at different axial locations.

    • According to aspects of the embodiments there is provided a cassette cleaning web having an agent metering tube that can apply oil via a drip pipe to a web as it enters a nip within the fusing surface. Dispensing the oil as it enters the nip increases the transportation and the holding capacity of the web. The cassette cleaning web can reduce the oil-on-copy to less than 3 mg/copy and more specifically to less than 1 mg/copy which would allow for adequate post finishing applications while still using amino functionalized fuser oil in the fuser subsystem. The cassette cleaning web reduces the contamination of the oil-sump because used web materials are wound up and oil or contaminate materials like wax, toner are retained in the spent web cartridge. This invention enables reduced oil-on-copy, eliminates the bulky and expensive release agent management system, and also provides a direct cleaning to the surface of the fuser roll.

An exemplary apparatus useful in printing onto media includes a first member including a first surface; a second member; a fixing belt supported on the second member, the fixing belt including an inner surface and an outer surface, the first surface and the second surface forming a nip at which media are received; and a vibrating stripping device disposed between the second member and the inner surface of the fixing belt. The vibrating stripping device includes a stripping member including a stripping surface and a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism produces vibration of the stripping surface and the fixing belt, and the vibration of the fixing belt assists separation of media passed through the nip from the outer surface of the fixing belt adjacent to the stripping surface of the stripping member.
