摘要： A sheet stacking apparatus has a stack tray which can move so that a sheet stack surface keeps a constant position from a discharge outlet and which is a finisher capable of using the stack tray by switching it. When stacking the maximum number of sheets to be stacked on the stack tray and preventing stacking of sheets on the stack tray up to the maximum number of sheets to be stacked and the number of sheets stacked on the stack tray reaches a predetermined number of sheets to be stacked which does not prevent up to the maximum number of sheets from being stacked on the stack tray, stacking of sheets on the stack tray is temporarily prohibited to stack sheets by switching to the stack tray. Thereby, all sheet stack trays can stack up to the maximum number of sheets to be stacked, decrease of the number of stacked sheets is prevented in the whole sheet stacking apparatus and the number of temporal interruptions of a job is decreased.

摘要： An image forming apparatus, which realizes a buffering function which enables post-processing without decreasing the productivity and increasing the size. At least one image is formed on a sheet. A double-sided sheet conveying path is provided, which the sheet passes when being conveyed back to the image forming unit again to form an image on an opposite side surface of the sheet after an image is formed on one side surface of the sheet. A retaining member is provided on the double-sided sheet conveying path to retain the sheet on the double-sided sheet conveying path. A post-processing device carries out post-processing on sheets on which images have been formed by the image forming unit. A CPU circuit section, which controls conveyance of the sheet, provides control to convey the sheet on which the at least one image has been formed by the image forming unit to the double-sided sheet conveying path, cause the retaining member to temporarily retain the sheet on the double-sided sheet conveying path, and then convey the sheet to the post-processing device.

摘要： A sheet processing apparatus which is capable of improving operability while suppressing an increase in apparatus size. In a front cover insertion mode, an insertion sheet for a front cover is inserted into a bundle of sheets on which images have been formed, and in a rear cover insertion mode, an insertion sheet for a rear cover is inserted into the bundle of sheets. Insertion sheets for the front cover and insertion sheets for the rear cover are set with the same orientation in a manual feed tray 105. An insertion sheet for the front cover stored in the manual feed tray 105 is conveyed to a finisher 500 in one of a face-down state and a face-up state. An insertion sheet for the rear cover stored in the manual feed tray 105 is conveyed to the finisher 500 in the other of the face-down state and the face-up state. The insertion sheets for the front cover and for the rear cover conveyed from the manual feed tray 105 and the sheets on which images have been formed are stacked on the finisher 500.

摘要： The prediction error value calculated by a motion estimating portion is used for selecting the frame or field orthogonal transform coding mode. The frame prediction error value EFr and the field prediction error value EFi are calculated by the motion estimating portion and entered into a comparator of an orthogonal transform mode selecting portion which in turn compares them with each other and generates an orthogonal transform mode selecting signal TC. The use of the prediction error values for selecting the orthogonal transform mode makes it possible to reduce the size of the necessary hardware and saves much time of data processing necessary for judgment of the orthogonal transform mode selection.
