    • Apparatus for tinning of metal wire, particularly copper wire, at a high running speed. The apparatus has a trough filled with a tin bath and is provided on two oppositely positioned side surfaces with openings which are arranged coaxially to one another and through which the wire is guided into or out of the bath. The axis of said openings is eccentric with respect to the central axis of the trough and means pivot said trough about the axis of the openings to selectively effect immersion, or removal therefrom, of the wire.

    • A method of coating a strip of viscous solution on a movable substrate by feeding the coating solution through a narrow gap between coating apparatus which includes feed means and the movable substrate under a static pressure differential between the inlet and the outlet of the gap wherein the gap is part of a coating chamber of the coating apparatus. The gap is wider than the wet formed layer after formation. The coating chamber is connected to a vacuum means at the side of the coating from which the substrate is introduced. A negative pressure is effectuated at the inlet side of the coating apparatus. The vacuum means having a vacuum which seals the inlet end of the narrow gap in the coating apparatus by sucking air from the vacuum means through a diaphragm which withdrawal is at a uniform rate of flow.

    • A method and system for coating yarn ends or the like on the entire outer surface so as to prepare the yarn for subsequent textile treatments and/or change the characteristics of the same. The yarn end is moved in a direction generally along its axis transversely across a narrow, elongated surface of the coating liquid and as it moves across the surface of the coating liquid, the yarn end is rolled so that the coating liquid is precisely applied to the entire outer surface of the yarn end. The system and method may be utilized with existing textile equipment, such as spinning, twisting and roving frames or winding machines and the like, without material modification to such equipment.
