    • A mixing apparatus which makes it possible to monitor an internally-generated audio signal and an audio signal from an external apparatus not only in response to turning-on/off of a monitor switch but also in flexible and various manners when mixing those signals. The mixing apparatus is connected to at least one external apparatus, for inputting and mixing a plurality of audio signals and outputting a resulting mixed audio signal. The input audio signals are mixed into a mixed audio signal. The mixed audio signal and an audio signal input from the external apparatus are mixed using a predetermined monitor mix balance into a monitor output signal. A monitor switch is operated to switch between a plurality of monitor states. The predetermined monitor mix balance is changed according to a monitor state after switching by the monitor switch.

    • An audio broadcasting signal disruption sensor and backup program source for providing an alternate audio programming sources in the event of primary-source audio programming failure so as to automatically switch to a backup alternate audio programming source feeding an output audio stream for broadcasting. The system includes monitoring an audio stream from a primary-sources audio programming output, detecting a substantially constant amplitude waveform in the audio stream, determining that the substantially constant amplitude waveform remains of substantially constant amplitude continuously for a threshold period of time, switching the output audio stream from the primary-source audio programming to the alternate audio programming source upon expiry of the threshold period of time, and providing notice of any main-source audio programming failure to administrative personnel.

    • An audio production, satellite uplink and radio broadcast studio system includes an audio console having a supporting meter bridge and editing unit operative under the control of a central or main computer. The audio console is coupled to a plurality of analog audio information sources including a plurality of microphones, a plurality of telephone lines, a radio broadcast tuner and a plurality of audio tape drives. The audio console is further coupled to a plurality of digital information sources including a pair of ISDN lines, a plurality of compact disc players, a mini-disc player and a remotely operated digital audio recorder. The computer is coupled to the audio console via an interface and sound card. The audio console is coupled to a plurality of program outputs having different program format capabilities and to a distribution amplifier operative to control the various remotely operated recording apparatus within the system.
