    • A telewriting system has a plurality of telewriting terminals connected with a communication line, each of the telewriting terminals having a display unit so as to display an image thereon. The image displayed on the display unit is changed in accordance with instruction information transmitted via the communication line. A server unit is connected to each of the telewriting terminals by the communication line. The server unit communicates with the telewriting terminals, and has an image memory to store image information corresponding to the image displayed on the display unit. The image information to be stored in the image memory is changed, when the instruction information requesting a change of the image is received from the telewriting terminals, in accordance with the received instruction information. Differential information between the image information before the change and the image information after the change is extracted. The differential information is distributed to each of the telewriting terminals.

    • There is provided an image encoding method in a facsimile apparatus or an image filing apparatus as an image communication apparatus. In this method, a color image signal which is expressed by a plurality of color component signals to be encoded is input, the input color image signal is converted into a bit stream signal, and the bit stream signal is encoded by prediction encoding. A parameter for the prediction encoding is changed in accordance with the color image signal to be encoded. The encoding operation is executed adaptively to the color image signal to be encoded. By virtue of bit stream converting the binary color signal, efficient encoding using the color correlation can be executed and an increase in data amount is prevented. By encoding the bit stream signal using a dynamic arithmetic code, a binary color image can be efficiently encoded.

    • A method and an apparatus for data compression suitable for the Markov model coding of mixed bunary images including documents, diagrams, halftone images and photograghs. The method is consisted of the first step of calculating an image statistic from an input binary image, the second step of performing area classification of the input binary image according to the image statistic and preparing area classification data and the third step of producing reference data to be used in the Markov model encoding. The reference data is composed of a first data portion corresponding to the area classification data and a second data portion having a data portion other than the first data portion. The apparatus has an image statistic calculation part for calculating the image statistic, an area classification part for performing the area classification and a reference data preparation part for preparing the reference data.

    • A system and method for facsimile data encoding uses vectors indicating the locations of changing elements along a horizontal scan line. The change vectors are stored in a vector table. The system may use a reference vector table and a coding vector table if CCITT recommendation T.6 two dimensional encoding is used. The system encodes horizontal scan lines using the vectors to determine the location of the changing elements. The value of the reference changing element is easily determined using the vector tables. The system determines the locations of all changing elements on a horizontal scan line before performing any encoding of that particular scan line thus simplifying the encoding process. The system can receive and decode facsimile data to generate change vectors. The change vectors provide a simple mechanism for regenerating the raw data. The change vectors are used to encode raw data into any standard facsimile encoding format, to decode facsimile data, and to interconvert from one encoding format to another without having to convert the encoded data back to raw data.

    • An image information processing apparatus includes a detector for detecting the move vector of an image of the present relative to that of the preceding field; a circuit for processing, on the basis of the move vector, the image of the present field stored in a field memory; and a residual memory for storing the residual information calculated during the period in which the image data of one horizontal scanning line is inputted. The residual information stored in the residual memory is shunted into a blank area of the field memory during a predetermined interval after the period in which the image data is input. The processing circuit performs a wobble correction to correct any shaking of the image between fields or compresses the data quantity of the dynamic image in image transmission, and the information of one entire picture is processed after being divided into a plurality of blocks, whereby the storage capacity of the residual memory can be widely reduced.
