    • An optical print head having a substrate on which multiple light sources aligned in a main scanning direction are mounted to emit beams of light in a direction perpendicular to a surface of the substrate; a lens array to focus the beams of light on an image bearing member to form an image thereon; a housing having a guiding portion extending in the main scanning direction to position the substrate and the lens array; a cleaner to clean a light-emitting surface of the lens array while moving in the main scanning direction; a moving device to move the cleaner; and a supporting member to support the housing and the cleaner. The supporting member rotatably supports the cleaner about a shaft and the guiding portion contacts the cleaner against the light-emitting surface of the lens array with a constant force over the main scanning direction during cleaning of the light-emitting surface.

    • An optical scanner includes a light source to project light, a light deflector to deflect light, an optical element, and a holder to hold an optical element in place. The holder includes a curve adjustment mechanism, a first pressing member, a second pressing member, and a retainer. The curve adjustment mechanism adjusts a shape of the optical element in a sub-scanning direction relative to a scanning surface and perpendicular to a main scanning direction. The first pressing member is disposed at a first side from which the first pressing member presses the optical element in the sub-scanning direction. The second pressing member is disposed at a second side opposite the first side, to press the optical element from the second side. The retainer fixes substantially a center of the optical element in a main scanning direction of the light striking the optical element to the first side.

    • An image forming apparatus includes a scanning optical device which performs scanning on a photosensitive drum with laser light. The scanning optical device includes a polygon motor unit, an emergence unit and a projecting unit. The polygon motor unit includes a polygon mirror which performs the scanning on the photosensitive drum with the laser light emitted from a light source. The laser light emerges from the emergence unit so that the photosensitive drum is irradiated with the laser light. The projecting unit projects to a first side where the photosensitive drum is disposed from a partition wall. The polygon motor unit is disposed in the projecting unit. The emergence unit is disposed on a second side separated from the first side by the partition wall. A gap is provided between the partition wall and the scanning optical device.

    • An optical scanning device includes an enclosure having a plurality of windows covered with transparent members. The enclosure houses a plurality of light sources, a scanning portion, optical elements and a light amount attenuation portion. The scanning portion deflects each of a plurality of light beams emitted from a plurality of light sources at a constant angular speed in a main scanning direction. The optical elements constitute respective light paths from the scanning portion to the windows for the plurality of light beams, respectively. The light amount attenuation portion attenuates light amount in a light path of a first light source among the plurality of light sources in a downstream side of the position where a light beam emitted from a second light source enters as stray light. The drive portion drives the first light source so as to compensate for light amount attenuated by the light amount attenuation portion.
