    • The present disclosure relates to methods and devices for transmission of discovery signal signals and detection of discovery signal signals for device-to-device communication. According to some aspects, the disclosure relates to a method executed in a second wireless terminal for discovering a first wireless terminal, wherein the second wireless terminal 20 is configured with a set of one or more identities of wireless terminals with which device-to-device, D2D, communication is possible. The method comprises the following steps detecting a control signal transmitted from the first wireless terminal, wherein the control signal carries an identity and decoding S13 the received signal. The wireless terminal then, for each identity in the set, hashes S14 a reference control signal comprising an identity of the wireless terminal, taking a time stamp used for the control signal transmission as one input parameter of the hashing function and determines S15 if an output signal of the hashing matches the decoded signal, until all the identities in the set have been selected or until a match is found.

    • A wireless communication system (10) comprises multiple groups (12) of wireless communication devices (14). The devices (14) within any given group (12) are synchronized to the same timing reference and devices (14) in different groups (12) are not synchronized to the same timing reference. A device (14) transmits direct control signaling to other devices (14) according to the timing reference of its group (12). A method in the system (10) is implemented by a radio node (16) associated with one of the groups (12). The method includes generating (110) a message that indicates, for each of one or more of the groups (12), a range of possible values for misalignment between the timing reference of that group (12) and a common timing reference. This range accounts for uncertainty in that misalignment. The method also entails transmitting (120) the message from the radio node (16).

    • Systems and methods are disclosed for estimating one or more channel properties of a downlink from a cellular communications network based on quasi co-located antenna ports with respect to the one or more channel properties. In one embodiment, a wireless device receives a downlink subframe including a downlink control channel from the cellular communications network. The wireless device estimates one or more large-scale channel properties for an antenna port of interest in the downlink control channel based on a subset of reference signals that correspond to antenna ports in the cellular communications network that are quasi co-located with the antenna port of interest with respect to the one or more large-scale channel properties. As a result of using the quasi co-located antenna ports, estimation of the one or more large-scale channel properties is substantially improved.

    • Embodiments of systems and methods enabling Device-to-Device (D2D) discovery in a cellular network assisted D2D communication system are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method of operation of a wireless device comprises receiving at least one trigger for D2D discovery from a controlling node of the wireless device in a cellular communications network. The method of operation of the wireless device further comprises transmitting multiple transmission instances of a discovery signal of the wireless device for a D2D discovery event in response to the at least one trigger using resources selected from a group consisting of: different time resources, different frequency resources, different code resources, different time and frequency resources, different time and code resources, different frequency and code resources, and different time, frequency, and code resources. In this manner, detection of the discovery signal by other proximate wireless devices is substantially improved.
